MORE GPs FOR LOCAL CLINICS TO RECRUIT: NEW PACKAGE TO ATTRACT DOCTORS TO THE REGIONS
Local GP practices in towns throughout our region will have more options and a larger pool of doctors to recruit from, following changes announced today by the Morrison Joyce Government.
From 1 January 2022, there will be automatic access to the Distribution Priority Area (DPA) classification for regional and larger rural towns (MMM 3-4), to make it easier for areas to recruit more doctors.

SAFER JOURNEYS FOR PACIFIC HIGHWAY: GHINNI GHINNI TO COOPERNOOK
Motorists will soon benefit from safety improvement work on the Pacific Highway through the Mid Coast region with a project now under way between Ghinni Ghinni and Coopernook.
The $22 million project is jointly funded by the Australian and New South Wales governments on an 80:20 basis.

Disaster assistance is now available to help local councils, residents, primary producers, small businesses and charities recover from the significant weather event and flooding that occurred across the Port Macquarie Hastings region from Tuesday 9 November 2021.

WINS FOR WINGHAM: $15-MILLION FEDERAL FUNDING FOR MIDCOAST COMMUNITIES
Wingham’s town centre beautification and upgrades to local parks and sporting facilities are pushing forward as part of Federal funding of almost $15-million for MidCoast community projects.
MidCoast Council has this week approved the updated Wingham CBD Streetscape Concept Plan, with $1-million in Federal funding delivering early upgrades to the town centre, including a cantilevered shadesail now completed over the McCullagh Lane carpark.

Forster’s historic Main Beach foreshore is set for a $6.3 million facelift after the Federal Government today announced $3.159 million to help upgrade the 50-year-old Forster Surf Life Saving Clubhouse.

TAKING SHAPE: NEW MEC ARTISTS' STUDIO TO SEAT 150
The concrete has set on a new performance studio to seat 150 people at the Manning Entertainment Centre in Taree.
The space will complement the existing 500-seat main auditorium and is jointly funded by the Australian Government ($1 million), NSW Government ($1.55 million), MidCoast Council ($438,000) and community (bequest).
