NEW-LOOK PICNIC & PLAY AREAS FOR GLOUCESTER

Federal funding of $320,000 will see Gloucester’s community parks transformed with attractive timber furniture and play equipment.

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie was in Gloucester to announce the upgrades for Gloucester District Park and King George V Park.

“Families around the district will love the new playground that’s being installed in King George V Park,” Dr Gillespie said.

“Gone will be the tired old swing set and plastic slide, to be replaced with new timber forts, a pirate ship, cubby houses, climbing frames, tube slides and musical instruments.”

Dr Gillespie said new electric bbqs, smart timber seating and solar lighting would be installed at Gloucester District Park.

“With Federal funding we’re making a number of these improvements at parks and recreation grounds across the region - providing safe spaces for families and young children, bringing in visitors and improving the overall wellbeing of community members who will be able to use attractive community picnic facilities and playgrounds.”

The Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program has also provided funding for local projects including the new canteen and storage at Gloucester Rec Ground 1 and upgrading of the Gloucester Netball courts which is due to get underway in the Xmas holidays,” Dr Gillespie said.
