$1.93 MILLION FEDERAL FUNDING FOR TUNCURRY RECREATION, SUSTAINABILITY PROJECTS

The Federal Government has committed $1.93 million for recreation park upgrades and a new sustainability centre at Tuncurry.

EXTENDED UNTIL 6 OCTOBER: BLACK SUMMER BUSHFIRE RECOVERY GRANTS UP TO $10 MILLION

The Federal Government has extended applications until 5.00pm Wednesday 6 October 2021 for Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Program grants in eligible local government areas including the MidCoast, Port Macquarie-Hastings and Dungog Shire council areas.

Grants of between $20,000 and $10 million are available to support regions affected by the 2019-20 bushfires to address community recovery and resilience needs.

$500,000 FOR LOCAL LANDCARE BUSHFIRE RECOVERY PROJECTS

Four local Landcare bushfire recovery projects have been selected to aid in the recovery of native wildlife and habitat in seven regions severely impacted by the Black Summer bushfires - part of a $14 million Government commitment.

Landcare Australia and the National Landcare Network are co-ordinating the projects which include Mid Coast 2 Tops Landcare, ALL Sustainable Futures, Hastings Landcare and Luskintyre Landcare Group.

The nbn™ Disaster Satellite Service installed at Wauchope will boost the support offered to communities and emergency services personnel during emergency events.

If mobile and fixed-line connectivity goes down in a bushfire or a flood emergency, these satellite dishes will allow continued broadband connectivity—including for voice service—to our emergency control centres.

FEDERAL FUNDING TO FIX ROAD ‘BLACK SPOTS’

Funding under the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program will substantially improve 97 dangerous crash sites on New South Wales roads from 2021 to 2023.

Dr Gillespie said the state would receive $34.4 million under the Black Spot Program’s 2021–22 funding round, with councils and the NSW Government contributing a further $2.5 million to the 97 successful projects.

The Australian Government is investing up to $260 million to expand Australia’s diesel storage capacity as part of its commitment to boost long-term fuel security, create jobs and keep prices low.

This includes 2 projects in the Port of Newcastle with Stolthaven increasing capacity by 126 Megalitres and Park Fuels constructing an additional 30 Megalitres. These projects are expected to create around 130 jobs during construction.

$400M STORMS AND FLOODS PHASE 3 RECOVERY PACKAGE

The storm and flood event earlier this year, swept through leaving our towns and villages devastated with a massive clean-up for in our homes, farms, businesses and across community facilities.

We are resilient and working together with the assistance of our emergency services, councils and Army Reserves we tackled the clean-up and dusted ourselves off.

The Commonwealth and NSW Governments have announced the Phase 3 Recovery Package, which will deliver nine (9) key initiatives targeted at supporting the next phase of recovery for flood affected communities and industries. Phase 3 will provide medium to long-term targeted recovery support

Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Recovery Package have delivered close to $515 million assisting households, businesses, primary producers and local councils including the deployment of clean-up strike teams along with recovery grants of up to $75,000 for primary producers and grants of up to $50,000 for small businesses and non-profit organisations to support recovery and reinstatement activities.
