JOBS BOOM TAKES OFF IN THE HUNTER WITH NEWCASTLE AIRPORT INVESTMENT

The Morrison Government will upgrade the Newcastle Airport runway generating thousands of local jobs while creating new domestic and international travel and export destinations for Hunter and Central Coast residents and businesses.

The runway will be widened with a $66 million investment to accommodate longer range domestic and international passenger services as well as significantly increased large freight capabilities to benefit local exporters. This will maximise the benefits of works already completed on the terminal to upgrade international arrivals and departures processing.

WAUCHOPE EMERGENCY CONTROL TO RECEIVE SATELLITE SERVICE

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie says the nbn™ Disaster Satellite Service installed at Wauchope will boost the support offered to communities and emergency services personnel during emergency events.

$350,000 FOR LARGS FOOTPATH CONNECTIVITY

I regularly receive community representation for additional pathways and improved connectivity, I’m excited that we can deliver these alongside our city-wide strategy.

$100,000 will provide connectivity to Largs Public School from High Street.

Largs school, parents and residents have made representation regarding improvements to footpath for the school to provide better connectivity for students walking to school.

$160,000 investment will complete the missing link for properties off Dunmore Road to School, Oval and Largs Hotel and School of Arts.

$90,000 will deliver a direct connection for Largs Public School and properties off Dunmore Road to Largs Oval.

$460,000 TO CONNECT HUNTERGLEN ESTATE WITH OVAL & SCHOOL

Dr Gillespie said improved pedestrian access to the oval and school was highlighted in my recent community consultation with residents from the Hunterglen estate.

“There is overwhelming support for an access pathway from Victoria Street along the eastern boundary of the complex as it is heavily used by school children to access the school and would be the first stage of creating a connecting path around the facility for recreation use.”

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie has told Federal Parliament, government investment is now required to assist with the Newcastle Airport upgrade after its recent inclusion in Infrastructure Australia’s Priority List document.

VIDEO: COVID VACCINE ROLLS OUT ACROSS AUSTRALIA

This week the first doses of the coronavirus vaccine arrived in Australia.

This first shipment is part of 20 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine, secured through an advance purchasing agreement under our vaccine strategy.

The arrival of the vaccine confirms that we are on track for our most vulnerable groups to start receiving the vaccine on 22 February 2021. Approximately 80,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be made available in the first week.

The first priority for vaccines are hotel quarantine and border workers, frontline healthcare workers and aged care and disability care residents and staff.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has approved the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine for use in Australia following a full and thorough assessment process.

We have secured 53.8 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, with 50 million doses being manufactured here in Australia.

Two safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines are approved for use in Australia.

The Morrison Government is committed to providing safe and effective vaccines free to everyone in Australia.
