Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie will today join Taree Christian College Principal David Coleman to officially open the new $3.9 million primary school facilities.

Dr Gillespie said students would benefit from the new facilities which include flexible learning spaces, shared practical activities areas, and learning support rooms.

“It’s great to visit Taree Christian College and see the new facilities and hear about the positive impact it has had on students,” Dr Gillespie said.

The new primary facilities include six flexible learning spaces, shared practical activities areas, a learning space dedicated to support Koori education, learning support rooms, covered outdoor learning areas, amenities, and verandas.

“Taree Christian College has a wonderful school community, and these new primary facilities will further enhance the learning environment.”

Dr Gillespie said our Capital Grants Program funding ensured that every child gets a quality education no matter where they go to school.

Taree Christian College Principal David Coleman said the school community was thrilled with the new learning spaces which encourage collaborative, co-operative, and flexible learning opportunities.”

“The new spaces allow teachers to co-teach and students to work effectively in teams, developing skills that will benefit our students for life.”

“Local building company REECON Commercial and Civil Builders were selected to carry out the work and have done an amazing job, it was great to have local trades involved expanding our school community,” Mr Coleman said.

The Australian Government provided $500,000 for the project through the Capital Grants Program, which provides funding for non-government schools to improve capital infrastructure.

Dr Gillespie said following the David Gonski Review the Government are delivering real, needs-based funding that is matched by national reforms that will drive better results and outcomes in Australian Schools.
