$460,000 TO CONNECT HUNTERGLEN ESTATE WITH OVAL & SCHOOL
Dr Gillespie said improved pedestrian access to the oval and school was highlighted in my recent community consultation with residents from the Hunterglen estate.
“There is overwhelming support for an access pathway from Victoria Street along the eastern boundary of the complex as it is heavily used by school children to access the school and would be the first stage of creating a connecting path around the facility for recreation use.”
“Currently field spectator areas and seating are not accessible and do not have all-weather access, making it extremely difficult for grandparents and parents with prams to move between the two fields,” Dr Gillespie said.
Mayor Loretta baker welcomed the funding saying I regularly receive community representation for additional pathways and improved connectivity, I’m excited that we can deliver these alongside our city-wide strategy.
“These projects have been on our agenda for many years, it was part of our future program, however with this assistance we will be able to do more than we’d planned and sooner.”
