ENORMOUS OPPORTUNITIES WITH HIGH SPEED RAIL

Australia must continue to develop plans for a High Speed Rail Network in order to unclog its capital cities and supercharge decentralisation, according to Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie.

The former Federal Coalition Government allocated more than $5.9-billion into the nation’s Faster Rail Strategy and established the National Faster Rail Agency to work with the States on projects that could deliver Fast Rail.

With a change of government, Federal Labor has introduced legislation to rebadge the agency which will operate as a new statutory agency called the High Speed Rail Authority.

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie has called on the Minister for Veterans Affairs Matt Keough to review the Albanese Government’s decision to withdraw funding from veterans.

STATE NEEDS TO CUT RED TAPE TO BRING PACIFIC HIGHWAY INTERCHANGE UPGRADES FORWARD

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie has called on the NSW Government to fast track the upgrades of key intersections along the Pacific Highway and has written to Federal Transport Minister Catherine King seeking an ongoing commitment of Australian Government support to provide Federal funding for the projects.

There are several key intersections still requiring the installation of grade-separated interchanges for both safety and efficiency on this important national transport route,” Dr Gillespie said.

GENERATING BUSH FIRE RESILIENCE IN WINGHAM

A community club that became an evacuation centre during bushfires and flooding has unveiled a new power generator funded by the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Funding (BLERF) Package.

The Wingham Memorial Services Club received $546,457 to assist with the purchase and installation of the generator and other vital upgrades to the club, through BLERF which is jointly funded by the Australian and NSW governments.

Upgrades are now underway for Kiwarrak Mountain Bike Park after they received $403,980 from Stage Two of the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund, co-funded by the Australian and NSW Goverments.

The Comboyne Community Services Club will receive a significant upgrade to the function area and accommodation facilities with the Morrison Joyce Government committing more than $800,000 for a refurbishment.

The Liberal and Nationals Government has committed $4 million towards the development of a brand new sporting field complex for the Port Macquarie Hastings region.

The Hastings Regional Sporting Fields plan includes three fields for cricket, football, soccer, rugby and other activities to service the region’s growing population.

UPGRADE ANNOUNCEMENT: Stand-alone Regional Cancer Care Centre at Taree to deliver comprehensive treatment and outreach services

Plans for the new Manning-Great Lakes Cancer Care Centre have been significantly bolstered with the centre to be built as a stand-alone facility, delivering comprehensive cancer care services including outreach services for the region.

With Federal funding of $4.47-million, the centre will be built close to Manning Base Hospital in the centre of Taree and will complement and substantially expand the hospital’s existing oncology services.

NEW TAREE HEADSPACE CENTRE OPENS

Young people across the Manning-Great Lakes region will now have easier access to mental health services with the opening of a new Headspace centre in Taree this week.

The new service, located at 101A Pulteney Street, Taree is part of the Federal Coalition Government’s investment of $873.2 million in Headspace, to undertake the single largest expansion of the network to deliver 164 services across Australia by 2025-26.
