Multi-million dollar Federal funding investment for medical, allied health student training in Taree

The Federal Coalition Government has announced an injection of $32.9-million over three years into the University of Newcastle’s Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program which will train many more student doctors, nurses and other allied health professionals in Taree.

Funding for the Taree-based University of Newcastle’s Rural Clinical School and University Department of Rural Health will support 18 local staff and significantly boost the region’s health workforce.

The Liberal and Nationals Coalition Government has announced a further $1.588-million funding injection for Taree, Harrington and Old Bar to help rebuild the region’s economy after the Black Summer bushfires.

Federal funding of $975,364 will see critical water infrastructure upgraded and installed to protect the Diamond Waters Caravan Park and Dunbogan community from future bushfire threats.

LOCAL CINEMAS SECURE MUCH-NEEDED FUNDING BOOST

The Federal Coalition Government has announced a funding boost for local independent cinemas at Taree, Tuncurry and Laurieton.

More than $17.7 million has been invested from the Coalition Government’s SCREEN Fund to support 200 independent cinemas across the country, in the wake of the COVID pandemic.

Major road resealing and widening on Chapmans Road Tuncurry will improve safety and accessibility at the Tuncurry Racecourse for emergency vehicles, local businesses, jockey and sporting club users, racegoers and the general public.

Tuncurry Forster Jockey Club will receive $689,000 under the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program for upgrades to the intersection of Chapmans Road and the Club access road, as well as to seal an internal dirt road.
