‘RAISING THE ROOF’ FOR $400,000 WINGHAM GRANDSTAND UPGRADE

A major upgrade to Wingham’s Sporting Complex grandstand roof is expected to be completed before the 2022 football season.

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie MP announced on Friday a $400,000 Federal Government investment in the grandstand, to help cement Wingham and the Manning Valley’s reputation as a premier sporting hub.

“Together with the NSW Government and MidCoast Council, we’re pulling out all stops to get these upgrades finished before the next season, so there’s minimal disruption for the clubs and their patrons,” Dr Gillespie said.

“Design options for the roof extension will be finalised next month, with the project expected to go to tender in February.

“It’s great to be able to celebrate this latest win for Wingham with the local sporting fraternity and businesses who will benefit from this investment.”

Dr Gillespie also took the opportunity to be briefed on the Wingham Main Street beautification project which has received $1-million in Federal funding.

“I’ve seen some of the plans for the cbd upgrade and I’m very much looking forward to these improvements coming to fruition, including those advanced trees that so many people have been calling for.”

Dr Gillespie said there was a shared vision to continue to develop the Manning Great Lakes as a regional capital.

“Both Federal and State Governments are making multi-million dollar investments in transformative projects that will continue to provide a boost for the region’s economy now and into the future.”
