NEW FORSTER SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB OPENS MARCH 1
It’s been the focal point of the beach at Forster for over 50 years, and now the new multi-million-dollar 2 storey Forster Surf Life Saving Club will be officially opened Saturday March 1.
Federal funding of $3.59 million was gained through the former Coalition Government under the Building Better Regions Fund to deliver the project.
Further State Government funding through the former member for Myall Lakes the late Stephen Bromhead was also forthcoming allowing for the complete 3 stages to be finished.
The community are the big winners with the creation of a new building that will house key amenities and spaces.
Dr Gillespie said ‘’there is a function room for events, gatherings, and community activities, a café where members and visitors can relax, and socialise, plus a training area for on going education and skill development of surf lifesavers’’.
Upgraded amenities for convenience, hygiene and accessibility have been included and there are efficiently designed spaces for storage facilities.
The surf club becomes a vibrant hub of activity for both members and visitors with its range of amenities and modern facilities.
Enhancing surveillance capabilities have been included implementing state-of-the-art technology and design features to bolster safety and monitor efforts along the coastline
Dr. Gillespie said, ‘he was pleased that the former Coalition government funding through Federal and State allowed for this state-of-the-art facility to be completed assuring a strong future for surf lifesaving and water safety for many years to come.’’
