THE BUCKETTS WAY UPGRADES AT CLAREVAL

Federal Member for Lyne, Dr David Gillespie, has met with MidCoast Council to receive a briefing on the latest stretch of upgrades to The Bucketts Way at Clareval.

This stage of the project involves an almost 1km section of road approximately 4km north of Stroud Road. Works will include widening of the road, resurfacing and drainage improvements.

“In my recent Vision 2030 Plan survey, of the 3,000 households that responded across the Lyne electorate, roads were the number one priority, so it’s essential that we help support Council in the maintenance of our roads.”

“I’m therefore very pleased that the former Federal Coalition Government’s commitment of $20-million to The Bucketts Way under the Roads of Strategic Importance program is making a difference for road users,” Dr Gillespie said.

The Roads of Strategic Importance program is aimed at improving Australia’s resilience and productivity through investment in key freight roads that enable efficient connections between areas of regional and remote economic activity to ports, airports and other transport hubs.

MidCoast Council estimates that The Bucketts Way upgrades at Clareval will take approximately three months to complete.

Dr Gillespie said the former Federal Coalition Government had allocated more than $40-million towards The Bucketts Way upgrade when we were last in office.

“Given that responsibility for the road falls within the jurisdiction of both MidCoast Council and the State Government, those Federal dollars have been important in building on their investment.

“Unfortunately, the Albanese Government has pulled billions of dollars and axed some of the Coalition’s programs and without them, we may not see any further investment from the Federal Government beyond what the Coalition had locked in,” Dr Gillespie said.
