Three senior Federal Nationals MPs are making their way around the Hunter over the next couple of days to highlight the importance of the coal industry to both the region and the nation.

During their tour of the region, the three MPs will address the Newcastle Business Chamber on Wednesday before visiting Centennial Coal’s Mandalong mining operation and the Delta Energy Power Station at Vales Point on Thursday.

$28 MILLION FLOWS FOR CLARENCE TOWN ROAD AND BRIG O’JOHNSTON UPGRADES

The Australian Government has unlocked over $28 million in federal funding to deliver upgrades to Clarence Town Road between Raymond Terrace and Dungog and to build the new Brig O’Johnston Bridge at Clarence Town.

The works, which include 22 sections of roadway, spanning 17.6km will rehabilitate a critical link between Dungog, Clarence Town, Raymond Terrace and the lower Hunter Region.

There is a lot to celebrate this National Recycling Week with the Australian Government making 2020 the year that Australia took unprecedented responsibility for its own waste.

The Government is driving a $1 billion in investment in Australia’s waste and recycling industries, creating more than 10,000 jobs and diverting over 10 million tonnes of waste away from landfill.

Recycling is firmly on the national agenda this year with the Government’s export ban on waste plastic, paper, glass and tyres.

MANNING STREET TAREE GETS A MAKEOVER

Manning Street in Taree is set for a makeover next year with funding announced today from the Australian Governments Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie joined MidCoast Mayor David West to announce $200,000 for the streetscape upgrade, which will include new seating, garden planter boxes and street trees.

$8.2 MILLION IN FUNDING TO HELP TAREE AND THE MANNING VALLEY ON PATH TO BUSHFIRE RECOVERY
