LABOR'S PROPOSED FAMILY CAR TAX

Member for Cowper Pat Conaghan MP, the Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, Senator the Hon Bridget McKenzie and I met with Port Macquarie and Taree-based car dealers to discuss the impact on new car prices of the Albanese Government’s proposed new fuel efficiency standards.

Industry analysis says Labor’s proposal will add thousands of dollars to new SUVs, utes and 4WDs.

For example, the penalty on a Ford Ranger is estimated at $17,950, $14,490 for the Toyota Hi-lux and $13,830 for the Isuzu D-Max respectively.

We all want to do our bit in reducing emissions, but Labor's policy will be a further hit to cost of living pressures for families, tradies and farmers.
