PACIFIC PALMS COMMUNITY CENTRE UPGRADE
Work on the upgrade of the Pacific Palms Community Centre is nearing completion.
Over $500,000 in funding was announced under the former Federal Coalition Government towards the project through the Local Roads & Community Infrastructure program.
Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie inspected the new upgraded facilities at the Centre with representatives from MidCoast Council.
“This is an important community facility that caters for so many uses and I’m delighted works in the Centre are now complete,” Dr Gillespie said.
“MidCoast Council has been working with the various local groups who use the Centre to undertake this upgrade and develop a long-term plan to improve the facilities.”
“I’d like to take this opportunity to again congratulate the volunteers at the Pacific Palms Community Centre and MidCoast Council and their work to complete this important local upgrade,” Dr Gillespie said.
The works completed to date include:
Clearing of all debris / foliage from War Memorial and North (Tennis) carpark.
Planting of Native Flora to brighten war memorial, paving of the front area and stepping stones to flag poles, laid bark, trimmed down all trees and foliage.
Removal of Sand and Pouring of a Softfall for the Playground area, adding a rocker
Painted all internal – skirts/arch’s, main hall, foyer, kitchen, stores, amenities
Replacement of all Toilet Seats and Cisterns in the Hall and Tennis facility
The Pergola has been extended and gutter guarding installed
The Kitchen has been replaced and Store Room Flooring installed
New furniture has been purchased to support event hire (markets, wedding hire etc) – chairs and tables that are collapsible and light.
Mid Coast Council’s Senior Project Manager Scott Trotter said the remaining works around the centre soon to be undertaken as part of phase two of the project including asphalting to and widening the road, sealing of the carparks and additional stormwater and drainage works.
