OLD BAR SURF CLUB UPGRADE OFFICIAL OPENING

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie will today participate in the official opening of the recently completed upgrade of the Taree Old Bar Surf Life Saving Club.

In 2021, Dr Gillespie and the late State Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead announced $425,000 in Federal and State funding for an expansion of the Club building including upgrades to first aid rooms, bathrooms and emergency response areas at Old Bar Surf Life Saving Club.

The funding was made available under the Australian and NSW Government Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Program.

“Following the devastating impact of the bushfires on our region a few years back, the former Federal Coalition and State Coalition Governments worked together to develop several programs targeting key areas of need to assist rebuild and support communities and this project was another successful initiative that received support,” Dr Gillespie said.

“This project is an important upgrade for our local community in that it has delivered the necessary emergency service upgrades for the Old Bar Surf Club but also new hospitality facilities to service the Club’s members, the local community and those visiting the area.”

I’d like to take this opportunity to once again congratulate the members of the Taree Old Bar Surf Life Saving Club on a great project well done,” he added.
