MOBILE SERVICE CENTRE GOLDEN WATTLE VISITS NORTHERN NSW
Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie today welcomed the Mobile Service Centre Golden Wattle to the Region as part of its tour around northern NSW to provide our towns and villages with easy access to essential government services.
Mobile Service Centres have delivered Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support services to almost 160,000 customers since 2006.
Golden Wattle is one of three 20 tonne trucks run by Services Australia that have travelled over 900,000 kilometres and visited more than 5,200 communities.
Dr David Gillespie said Golden Wattle delivers tailored support and information to people in regional and rural communities like Farm Household Allowance which is available to help farmers and their families who are experiencing financial hardship.
“Mobile Service Centres are a prime example of the Australian Government’s commitment to delivering the best services to all Australians, regardless of where they live.”
‘These trucks are purpose-built to replicate a service centre, complete with the latest technology.
‘Golden Wattle’s travel around regional New South Wales during January will ensure communities can continue to access the services they need in 2021.’
“Mobile Service Centres are a great opportunity for people in our local community to meet face-to-face with specialist staff if they require more personalised or intensive support,”
“You can still do most of your Centrelink and all of your Medicare business online, and Golden Wattle staff can support locals to make sure they’re confident in completing their business online,” Dr Gillespie said.
“You don’t need an appointment, and it’s free – so anyone who needs help or has a question should visit the team.”
‘All services offered on Golden Wattle will be offered with strict COVID-19 safety precautions in place.’
