HOLIDAY HERE THIS YEAR
An advertising blitz this week will promote domestic holidays to support local tourism jobs, hospitality and travel agents.
Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie said the Nationals in Government had pushed hard for a $5 million campaign across national advertising, TV and event sponsorships to encourage Australians to book a holiday in Australia this year.
“The campaign will feature Australian destinations, tourism products and experiences from every state and territory in the national campaign.”
“In our own backyard we have some amazing sights and experiences, I hope the campaign will attract more Australians to visit our region, boosting the local economy and creating jobs,” Dr Gillespie said.
“Australians are intrepid worldwide travellers, but this is the year to discover Australia and its beauty, I encourage you to tour through regional NSW, walk Kakadu National Park, meet the Quokka’s of Rottnest Island or swim the Whitsundays.”
“It doesn’t matter if you book a holiday just down the road or on the other side of the country, you’ll be supporting Australian businesses and workers,” Dr Gillespie said.
“When you do book your holiday this year, go to a local travel agent to help support them because they’re also doing it tough because of COVID-19.”
“Our tourism industry is so important because it supports more than 666,000 local jobs and every dollar spent on an Australian holiday this year will help our tourism sector.”
The advertising blitz will help drive Australians to book domestic holidays and give our tourism industry a much-needed boost. It’s part of Tourism Australia’s ‘Holiday Here This Year’ campaign for 2021.
