EMPLOYMENT FACILITATOR APPOINTMENT FOR MID NORTH COAST
A new Employment Facilitator in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales will help job seekers find work as part of the Australian Government’s $62.8 million Local Jobs Program.
Federal Members representing the Mid North Coast Employment Region Pat Conaghan and Dr David Gillespie welcomed the appointment of Janine Culnanae from RDA who will work on-the-ground to support employers and job seekers to connect with employment and training opportunities.
Federal Member for Lyne Dr Gillespie said Employment Facilitators will help support the region’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our Employment Facilitator will provide a local presence on the Mid North Coast to support employers and job seekers to connect to local employment and training opportunities.”
“The Australian Government wants to upskill and reskill as many job seekers as possible, using solutions developed by their local communities,” Dr Gillespie said.
Federal Member for Cowper Pat Conaghan said Employment Facilitators will chair a Local Jobs and Skills Taskforce identifying the needs of employers across the Region.
“They’ll drive innovative ideas to address the skill shortages and education and training challenges by bringing together local businesses, training providers and job seekers.
“I’m confident they will come up with local solutions that will benefit our job seekers and industry,” Mr Conaghan said.
The Taskforce will identify projects that can be funded by the Australian Government through the Local Recovery Fund, ranging from $10,000 to $200,000.
The New South Wales Mid North Coast Employment Region is one of 25 regions that will benefit as part of the Local Jobs Program.
The Mid North Coast Employment Facilitator, Janine Culnane from Regional Development Australia – Mid North Coast, will start on 18 January 2021.
The interim Employment Facilitator for the region is still available, with further information at https://www.dese.gov.au/local-jobs-program.
